Object Oriented Modelling of a Training Simulator

An object oriented model library of thermo-fluid dynamic systems has been established in Matlab/Simulink. An operator training simulator (OTS) for Elektrarny Opatovice a.s (Opatovice Thermal Power Plant) has been developed using this model library. Operator training simulators are full scale simulators, where the intention is to provide for operators the same environment as in a given real power plant. This paper describes the way in which an operator-training simulator has been established for a coalfired power and heat supply plant in the Czech Republic. This simulator uses a model based on the first principle. The simulation model has been developed in the MATLABSIMULINK simulation packages. The distributed control system (DCS), which is implemented in this power plant, is also emulated in MATLAB-SIMULINK. The Human Machine Interface (HMI) of the operator-training simulator is the same as that developed in the standard InTouch software package for the real power plant. The communication between the MATLAB-SIMULINK models and the InTouch mimics, which had to be developed, is therefore based on the standard DDE protocol.
